Tim Redfish caught on light tackle

Light tackle can be an exciting way to experience inshore saltwater fishing. Sight fishing as well as blind casting plugs both produce excellent results. This is also a great way to get younger anglers involved and excited about the outdoors.

Captain Leo Henriques

BOCA GRANDE LIGHT TACKLE FISHING

Capt. Leo Henriques has guided in the Boca Grande, Florida waters since the early 1990’s. His has taken the time to learn the backcountry waters of Charlotte Harbor which hold Snook, Redfish and Tarpon year round. In targeting these specied with light tackle Capt. Leo will typically select top water plugs in the early morning. As the light gets up he likes to switch to soft tail jerk baits. Depending on water clarity and light conditions the angler may have sight casting shots as fish. In certain conditions blind casting is the go to method to produce results. Skipping baits under mangroves and longer casts across grass flats can produce both Redfish and Snook hook ups.
