Boca Grande Fly Fishing and Light Tackle Guided Trips

There is no substitute for experience. Captain Leo Henriques has been guiding in Boca Grande, Florida since the early 1990's. His wealth of knowledge of saltwater fly fishing, the mechanics of fly casting, and the Boca Grande, Florida, Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound estuary add up to a great day on the water for fly fisherman and light tackle anglers. All skill levels of fisherman will enjoy spending time on Captain Leo’s skiff and benefiting from his passion and knowledge.

Backcountry Fishing

Spend the day exploring parts of the intricate shallow back water of Charlotte Harbor, Whidden's Creek, Catfish Creek, Myakka River and Peace River stalking red fish and snook. I will pole you through the shallow water or guide you wading with a fly rod or light spinning gear with plugs and soft baits.

Tarpon Fishing

My passion is fly fishing for tarpon. When the tarpon move into the area we will sight fish for them laid up, rolling in shallow back waters of Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound as well as on the beaches of Little Gasparilla Island, Gasparilla Island, Cayo Costa state park and Captiva Island. If you’re looking for a great challenge and the highest level of excitement I would love to fish with you and show you the true wonders that these 100 + pound fish can provide.

Fly Casting Instruction

I am certified by the Federation of Fly Fisher’s and have a full understanding of the fly casting stroke. I provide one-on-one fly casting instruction on the water or in a field.

What I provide on a guided trip:

  • Equipment/rigged rods
  • Flies
  • Fishing license
  • Water and ice
  • East Cape Evo Skiff

What do you need to bring:

  • High quality polarized glasses (amber, copper, or yellow tint is best)
  • Your rods if you prefer to use them (Arriving with them rigged up will save time on your charter. I will check your leaders to make sure they are proper for our fishing situation.)
  • Lightweight rain gear
  • I recommend light colored UPF clothing
  • Sunscreen (please no spray sunscreen)
  • Hat (with a dark under brim is better to cut glare)
